Plant-based plastic. Made to order. UK workshop.

Every piece we print is a small decision about what we put into the world. We’ve made three of those decisions deliberately — and they’re built into the way we work, not bolted on after the fact.

1. We print in PLA — a plant-based plastic

The vast majority of Soloré décor is printed in PLA (polylactic acid), a biopolymer made from fermented plant starch — typically corn or sugarcane. Unlike the petroleum-based plastics used in most mass-produced homeware, PLA is derived from renewable crops and is industrially compostable at end-of-life.

For your home that means a piece that feels and behaves like solid plastic, but doesn’t carry the same fossil-fuel footprint. It’s also free from BPA, phthalates and the chemical residues you’d find in lower-grade injection-moulded décor.

2. Made to order — no overstock, no landfill

We don’t hold warehouses of unsold stock. When you place an order, that’s when your piece is queued onto a printer. Every item is hand-finished, quality-checked and packed individually before it leaves the workshop.

The made-to-order model means we never produce more than people want — and you never receive something that’s been sitting in a fulfilment centre for months. Lead time on most pieces is 3–7 working days.

3. Printed in the UK, shipped from the UK

Every Soloré piece is printed and finished in our small workshop in Britain. Nothing is drop-shipped from overseas; nothing crosses an ocean to reach you. UK orders arrive in 1–2 working days via Royal Mail; EU orders take a little longer.

Our packaging is plastic-free wherever possible — recycled or recyclable card, paper tape, and just enough void-fill to keep your piece safe in transit.

What we’re still working on

Sustainability isn’t a finish line. We’re actively trialling recycled-PLA filaments for the parts of the catalogue where colour-matching allows, and we’re experimenting with closed-loop recycling for our own offcuts and failed prints. When we ship a piece, the offcuts that made it possible don’t go to landfill either.
