Custom 3D print commissions, curated and hand-finished in the UK

Have something in mind that isn’t in our shop? Alongside our regular collections we take on custom print and paint commissions: one-off 3D printed pieces curated, printed and hand-finished for a specific project, gift or space. Tell us what you’re picturing and we’ll do the hunting.

What we do (and what we don’t)

We’ll be upfront: we don’t design 3D models from scratch. Creating an original model is a specialist skill in its own right, and it isn’t ours.

What we are good at is curation. There are millions of 3D models out there, and knowing which ones actually print well, which designers permit their work to be sold, and which file will suit your project is where we come in. Describe what you’re after and we’ll search the libraries and designer communities we work with every day, then bring you back the best options to choose from.

Once you’ve picked, we print it in our UK workshop, and if the project calls for it we’ll hand-paint and finish the piece too.

A recent commission: the hand painted steampunk skull

A customer came to us wanting a steampunk skull as a one-off piece. We sourced a design we could licence for the job, printed it, then hand-painted it layer by layer to bring out the mechanical detail. Model files and cost

Wherever we can, we aim to source a free, properly licensed model file for your project, at no extra charge to you. Most commissions are quoted this way: you pay for the print, the finishing and the postage, and the file costs nothing.

Sometimes, though, the perfect model is a paid file, or you may have your heart set on a specific design that’s only available to buy. In that case the cost of the file is added to your quote. We pass it on as part of your price rather than absorbing it ourselves, and we’ll always tell you the file cost before you commit, so there are no surprises.

How a custom order works

1. Get in touch with a description of what you’re after: the subject, rough size, colours, and where it’s going to live. Reference photos help enormously.
2. We curate. We search for models that fit the brief and are licensed for us to print and sell, then send you the candidates.
3. You choose, we quote. The quote covers printing, any hand-painting or finishing, postage, and the file cost if a paid model is needed.
4. We print and finish. Custom pieces are made to order, so lead times are a little longer than our regular catalogue; we’ll give you an estimate with your quote.
5. Delivered to your door, carefully packed like everything else we make.
