About this model

Charles Babbage Blue Plaque – 200mm

A 3D printable recreation of the Charles Babbage blue plaque in Southwark, London.

Charles Babbage (1791–1871) was a mathematician, inventor and one of the earliest pioneers of computing. He designed the Difference Engine and later the Analytical Engine, a mechanical machine that introduced ideas similar to modern computer memory, processing and programmable instructions. His machines were never fully completed during his lifetime, but his work was so far ahead of its time that he is now widely known as the “father of computing.”

This model was traced from a verified photograph of the original plaque to preserve its lettering, layout and circular border. Part of my 200mm Blue Plaque Collection.
