About this model
<p>My <strong>Strelitzia nicolai</strong> has grown quite large, and as it started producing bigger and heavier leaves, I noticed that new stems would sometimes begin to bend under their own weight. In some cases, these bends can eventually lead to the stem snapping.</p><p>I designed this splint to provide additional support to stems that are starting to bend, helping prevent further bending and potentially avoiding a complete snap.</p><p>The splint consists of two halves that fit around the plant stem. The two halves are locked together using a <strong>piece of filament</strong> that passes through both sides. The filament acts as a fastener, locking the two halves together. It also provides some additional horizontal strength.</p><p>I would advise printing the halves at a slight angle, this will increase the strength of the design.</p><p>The current model is for stems with a dimension of 13x19mm. I can make and upload other dimensions as well, will do that sometime soon or on request. Simply scaling it won't work well because the holes for the filament need to stay the same dimensions.</p>
