Fender emblem, 2-layer press fit

Printed for you, made to order

About this model

This emblem is a remix of Dunn Chuck's Fender emblem.

This divides the emblem into 2 layers, the lettering and the background, which can be printed separately facedown for a nice finish and then press-fit together and press-fit into another print. It is useful because it allows you to add a 2-layer embossed emblem to the surface of a print to which you could not add an embossment while printing.

Each layer is 1 mm thick (not counting the dowels on the backside of the lettering). This could be scaled up, but probably not scaled down since the smaller posts are pretty skinny already. Attaching the lettering to the background requires some care (the lettering is only 1mm thick!) in order to not bend the underlying lettering as you press the post into the receiving hole. The receiving holes are quite tight, so they should very securely hold the emblem once pressed in, but will loosen if you remove and replace it.

I've included a file of the background piece with the posts in the correct position; this can be imported into a CAD program or even a slicer to use as a negative space to add the holes to your model in the proper position/size. Just line it up to the correct position and depth (the template is 3mm thick overall, and the posts are 2mm long).

I hope you find this useful. If you have any problems with the tolerances of the posts/holes, let me know.

How it works

 • You pick the model; we fetch the designer’s file and print it in our UK workshop.
 • Every piece is hand-finished and quality-checked before it ships, like everything in our shop.
 • Printed in PLA, a plant-based material. More about our material.

This design was created and shared by an independent designer and remains their property. Every model offered for printing here has a licence that permits commercial printing. The original model page and licence are linked above.
