About this model

I made this brachial plexus model specifically for mass 3D printing and distribution to med students. The overall shape takes inspiration from Netter's, but with extensive subtle design choices which make printing up to 10 at a time per printer possible with minimal material waste. This makes printing out dozens or a hundred models for distribution as study aids feasible with some reasonable prep-time. I recently printed a batch of 70 of these for a class, and they are incredibly well-received as tactile study aids that students get to keep.

Features

D-Shaped Cross Section: The nerve branches feature a D-shaped profile. The curved side provides necessary structural stability for the tall print, while the flat face provides a perfect surface for writing and labeling.

Stylized Base: The model's feet are a stylized merger of the dorsal root ganglion and ventral roots, but their primary mechanical purpose is to keep the tall model standing stable on a desk.

Labeling and Use

Sharpies and other markers will bleed pretty bad along the layer lines. I suggest using acrylic paint or paint markers (as seen in the photo). Alternatively, you can use colored tape or string to label the branches you're trying memorize.

Slicer Settings

This model is tall, lanky, and requires specific settings to print…

How it works

 • You pick the model; we fetch the designer’s file and print it in our UK workshop.
 • Every piece is hand-finished and quality-checked before it ships, like everything in our shop.
 • Printed in PLA, a plant-based material. More about our material.
