About this model

In professional rescue services, rescue knives or scissors are often used to free accident victims from precarious situations. This can include cutting through entangled ropes or removing clothing to access an injury.

While one-handed knives are commonly used, scissors generally offer the advantage of reducing the risk of injuring the victim during the rescue.

I designed this custom sheath for the rescute-tec brand rescue scissors. It allows for safe transportation of the scissors in a jacket pocket. The sheath is also equipped with a lanyard hole, enabling it to be attached in a pocket or to the inside of a life vest. This means the sheath does not need to be held while removing the scissors – they can be easily retrieved with one hand.

Another feature of the sheath is a drainage hole, allowing any water that enters to flow out easily.

Printing Notes

The sheath is designed to be printed lying flat on its side (red-highlighted area) without supports. The red-marked section is a small block incorporated with a 0.35 mm gap and serves as a predetermined breaking point. After printing, this block can be easily removed. This allows the groove to slide over the pan head screw, ensuring the scissors are securely fixed in the sheath. For support-free printing, I recommend setting the flow rate for bridges to 1.5 and reducing the bridge speed to 10. The recommended material is PETG, ideally with CF.
