About this model
<p>A hot air balloon that actually lights up. The envelope prints in thin, translucent PLA so an E14 LED bulb inside turns the whole balloon into a soft glowing lantern, while the gondola underneath is a detailed gothic-style basket that hides the socket and the cable.</p><p>Unlit it reads as a clean white balloon on a decorative basket; lit, the layer lines turn into a woven fabric texture. Three plates: balloon envelope, cross brace, and the ornate basket with the central socket tube.</p><p><strong>Non-printed parts you need</strong></p><ul><li><p>1x E14 lamp socket</p></li><li><p>1x E14 LED bulb</p></li><li><p>1x mains cable with plug</p></li></ul><p><strong>Assembly</strong></p><ol><li><p>Print all three parts and clean off the supports.</p></li><li><p>Feed the cable up through the underside of the basket and wire it to the E14 socket following the socket manufacturer's instructions.</p></li><li><p>Push the socket down into the central tube of the basket so it sits flush, and route the cable out through the base.</p></li><li><p>Screw in the E14 LED bulb.</p></li><li><p>Drop the cross brace over the bulb onto the top of the basket - it centres everything.</p></li><li><p>Lower the balloon envelope over the bulb and seat it on the brace. Friction fit, no glue needed.</p></li></ol><p><strong>Use an LED bulb only.</strong> The parts are PLA, so do not fit an incandescent or halogen bulb - a low-wattage LED runs cool enough to be safe.
